Weather conditions in Alicante, which have been stable this week, are set to change dramatically from Sunday. An Atlantic storm, followed by a polar maritime air mass, will bring a week of stormy weather with wind, rain, and even snow at altitudes of 1,100 meters, according to the special warning issued this Thursday by the Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

A low-pressure system in the Atlantic will rapidly deepen in the coming days, even explosively, leading to an intense Atlantic storm moving towards the British Isles. Its proximity will result in widespread stormy weather across the Peninsula, with strong winds and very strong gusts in much of the territory from next Sunday.
The storm will begin to intensify on Sunday in Galicia and will spread to other parts of the Peninsula, reaching its peak on Monday, which is likely to be the most adverse day of the episode.

Throughout the day, very strong gusts will occur in most of the Peninsula, tending to subside by the end of the day. Precipitation will spread across the Peninsula, potentially reaching the province of Alicante. These precipitations could be snow from 1,300 meters of altitude, according to the state agency. Temperatures, although still mild, will begin to drop at the start of next week.
On Tuesday, the wind is expected to ease except in the eastern third, where very strong gusts will continue. Precipitation is likely to persist, with the snow level dropping progressively due to the arrival of a cold maritime polar air mass.
From Wednesday, with increasing uncertainty, the wind is likely to subside. Precipitation is expected to continue in the following days. Some scenarios even suggest the possibility of heavy snowfalls in the mountainous systems.
