The city of Alicante welcomes thousands of visitors during this Holy Week. Many travel by car to the city from other parts of the province and across Spain. All must adhere to the speed limits within the city, monitored by speed cameras.
The network of Alicante's speed cameras has been active since its completion on January 17th. On that date, new devices became operational and began issuing fines to vehicles exceeding the 50 km/h limit.

These speed cameras are located on the main avenues of Alicante and the city's entrances to enhance road safety and reduce vehicle speed at critical points and accident-prone areas.
Among the new features of Alicante's speed cameras is the deployment of six devices added at the beginning of the year to the city's device network. This aims to raise driver awareness about road risks.
According to figures provided by the City Council, Alicante's fixed speed cameras issued an average of four fines per day last year. This municipal system for traffic speed control detected a total of 1,774 violations in the last twelve months of 2024.
The number of fines decreased compared to 2023, when up to 4,915 penalties were recorded. Thus, 2025 will be crucial to determine if driver awareness has improved, following the year-end review with the addition of new interchangeable speed cameras.
There are eleven speed cameras and control points distributed across the main streets and avenues of Alicante and San Juan Beach, as well as the roads connecting these areas.
Among the fixed speed cameras in Alicante are those installed on Avenida de la Universidad, one of the main entrances to the city; Avenida de Dénia, near the Goteta neighbourhood; La Cantera; and Avenida de la Goleta, in Cabo de las Huertas at San Juan Beach.
