A Battle in Alicante's Bullring to Crown Spain's Best Pizza

Alicante's bullring is gearing up to fire up the ovens. A total of 18 pizzerias from across Spain will gather to craft their finest creations. They all vie for the top spot, but this is just the first battle.

The gastronomic event 'Pizza Combat' will kick off on March 20th at Alicante's bullring, the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2025. The arena will open to the public to taste these dishes and vote for their favourite in this initial round of the contest.

Thus, the people of Alicante will be the first to vote for their favourite pizza and pizzeria. However, they must first decide which ones will advance to the final. Only 18 can make it, competing in Alicante's bullring.

For now, 'Pizza Combat' has organised a preliminary vote before the first battle. Everyone can vote for their favourite pizzeria to become one of the finalists. The list includes establishments from 14 autonomous communities.

Among the restaurants, four are from Alicante: Da Flippo, Lampadini, Ché Ragazzi, and In bocca al lupo. They will have the opportunity to participate in the first round at Alicante's bullring and, with it, tour across Spain in pursuit of being the best pizza.

The first public vote will conclude on February 15th. A few days later, the selected pizzerias for this gastronomic contest will be announced, ready to face their first battle in the Alicante arena.

Among the proposals to be presented to the people of Alicante, there will be a wide variety, both in shapes - round and square - and in flavours and styles. Only one will rise, in the final round, to claim the golden belt for the best pizza in Spain.
