In October, it was confirmed that 2024 would close with a historic record in passenger numbers at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport, and these last two months have further boosted this figure. The Alicante terminal makes history for the second consecutive year, confirming an upward trend that positions Alicante as one of Spain's leading airports.

This 2024, the terminal at El Altet has surpassed 18.4 million passengers.
The large influx of passengers has prompted Aena to take action, initiating the first steps for the airport expansion, which will include a second terminal. While this decision has been applauded by the Generalitat, they, along with the business sector and local authorities, continue to advocate for a second runway at the airport.
