Casa Carbonell in Alicante will present an unprecedented image this Thursday, 28th November, when all its lights will remain lit from 7 to 9 PM. This initiative is by the community of property owners of this iconic building located at the first number of the Explanada de España, commemorating the centenary of its construction.
The residents of Casa Carbonell will open the shutters of all their windows to showcase the brilliance of one of the city's icons. The moment will also be enlivened by the Tabaquera Alicantina Choir, which will perform several compositions at the foot of the building before singing the Alicante Anthem.

The idea comes from Luisa María de la Vega, one of Enrique Carbonell's great-granddaughters. "Her proposal was well received at the community of owners' meeting, which aims to contribute to the centenary events by providing a never-before-seen image, hardly repeatable, during two magical hours," says the community secretary and administrator of Mediterráneo, Rebeca Villanueva.
In recent weeks, the community and the family, which fully supports this illumination, have been working to "coordinate the residents and manage, with presidents Adelina Gómez Reus and Luisa María de la Vega, the necessary permits with the Alicante City Council to ensure the event on the Explanada."
The light illumination is one of the commemorative events of the Casa Carbonell centenary, which began last April with various activities. A steering committee has been set up, chaired by Professor María Teresa Gómez Reus - also a great-granddaughter of Enrique Carbonell - representing the family, along with the Alcoi City Council, the Alicante Municipal Archive, the Alicante Territorial College of Architects, the Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture, Mediterráneo, and the Alicante Province Journalists Association.
The events will continue this Friday in Alcoi with the round table 'Enrique Carbonell Antolí (1879-1924): His History and Legacy' featuring architect Santiago Varela and historian Isker Torrecillas. The session will take place at 7 PM in the Ágora Hall on Sant Mateu Street, 3.
Other events held in tribute to the Alcoyan entrepreneur and Casa Carbonell include the exhibition '100th Anniversary of the Construction of Casa Carbonell (1924-1925)' in the research room of the Alicante Municipal Archive, featuring a wide selection of documents, plans, and photographs; and the lecture 'Juan Vidal, Architect. Firmitas, Utilitas, Venustas' by Santiago Varela, architect and member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos at the Alicante Territorial College of Architects.
