The province of Alicante is not spared from the rain. After several weeks of continuous and intense precipitation, a new storm will arrive on the peninsula and the Mediterranean area this Thursday, bringing more showers and causing temperatures to drop.

The new Atlantic storm, named 'Martinho' by the Portuguese Meteorological Service, appears after 'Laurence'. It is the fourth storm in just twelve days and will once again bring rain across the peninsula. Showers will be accompanied by a significant drop in temperatures towards the weekend.

Thus, it is expected that in the interior and northern areas of Alicante, rain will begin on Thursday morning, while forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicate that in the southern territory, showers will fall from Friday.

The Aemet warns that this new Atlantic storm will be accompanied by "abundant rain and snow on low levels" on Sunday. The meteorological agency places the snow level at about 1,300 meters, with a higher probability of the white blanket covering the peaks on Sunday.

In fact, the Aemet warns that the rains brought by 'Martinho' will be accompanied by "strong winds" and a "notable drop" in temperatures over the weekend. Values are expected to be between two and five degrees below normal for the season, with minimums dropping below seven degrees on Sunday and not exceeding 15 degrees in the interior areas.

Rainfall Accumulations

March has been very rainy in the province of Alicante. After months of scarce precipitation, the meteorological spring has started with a bang, leaving significant accumulations in the territory. The continuous succession of storms has resulted in a large portion of the year's accumulations being concentrated in March.

Thus, localities such as la Vall de la Gallinera or la Vall d'Ebo exceed 500 litres per square metre of the 660 recorded in 2025. That is, almost 80% of all rain accumulation so far this year has been recorded in March, according to the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet).

Nationally, between March 1 and 16, an average of 97 litres per square metre has been recorded, according to Aemet, which details that the normal average for a full month of March is 59 litres per square metre.
