Adela González has a new colleague: Javier Ruiz. Starting April 21, both journalists, with extensive careers in the media, will share the presentation duties of 'Mañaneros' on La 1, which will embark on a new phase. "Maintaining its characteristic style," assures the statement from RTVE, "the program grows with the luxury tandem formed by these two journalists. Their main challenge will be to offer a panoramic view of current events and keep the audience informed of everything that is happening."
Although the press release does not clarify the areas in which both journalists will operate, Ruiz made it clear this Tuesday, during the Copa del Rey break, that he will cover political information, so presumably, González will continue to handle crime reporting and the entertainment segment.
The RTVE statement recalls that Javier Ruiz has been in journalism for almost 30 years. Educated at Columbia University in New York, he has worked in the newsrooms of COPE, El Mundo, and Cadena SER, where he was a correspondent in New York and led coverages such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. He became head of its news editorial team in 2003.
In television, he has always been at the forefront of news projects, eventually directing the midday and evening news editions on Cuatro, also overseeing CNN+ until the channel's closure in Spain. Since 2015, Javier Ruiz directed and presented 'Las Mañanas de Cuatro' and led political reporting in the morning, later combining his analyses on Mediaset with the responsibility of the economic area on Cadena SER, where he presented the economic news segment Hora 25 de los Negocios. In September 2021, he joined RTVE to design the project 'Las Claves del Siglo XXI', a current affairs debate he presented in the first half of 2022. Since then, he has been associated with the public broadcaster as a contributor in current affairs spaces.
Adela González has similarly spent nearly three decades in journalism. A graduate in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra, her professional beginnings were in the newsrooms of Radio Euskadi and the EFE Agency in Logroño. Her first appearance on RTVE was in the cultural program 'Qué Pasa', from the territorial center of Navarra, a weekly magazine she directed and presented.
In 2001, she joined Euskal Telebista to present the social chronicle program 'Lo Que Faltaba' and 'LQF Mójate', alongside Iñaki López. This was followed by the prime-time talk show 'Vaya Familia' and the current affairs program 'Pásalo', which she presented for six years also alongside Iñaki López. She was editor and presenter of 'Euskadi directo' and presented 'Consumidores' with Carlos Sobera.
After 14 years at EITB, she moved to national television to present 'Más vale tarde' on La Sexta. On her return to ETB2, she presented 'Ahora' and '¡Qué me estás contando!' with Ion Aramendi and the report program 'Basquexperience'. She also worked at Telemadrid, where she presented 'La Redacción' and 'Madrid Directo'. In 2022, she joined Mediaset as the presenter of 'Sálvame', 'Sálvame Fashion Week', and 'Mediafest'. In September 2023, she returned to La Sexta, presenting 'Más vale sábado' with Boris Izaguirre, and since August 2024, she has been leading 'Mañaneros' on La 1.
