Alicante is on the lookout for short films that blend cinema with gastronomy. The Gastro Cinema festival has opened the submission period for entries to compete in the official section of its seventh edition, which will take place from July 18 to 25.

The festival takes advantage of Alicante's designation as Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2025 to highlight this aspect of the city through the big screen. Additionally, Gastro Cinema is once again partnering with the Tourism Board to conduct joint initiatives, such as round tables.
In the official section, both Spanish and international productions can participate in this new edition of the festival with fiction or documentary short films, as long as they have gastronomy as their main theme and are set in a culinary context.
Among the requirements to participate in Gastro Cinema are a duration not exceeding 30 minutes, production after January 1, 2023, and Spanish subtitles if filmed in a different language. The deadline for registration is June 22, 2025.
Participants will compete for the 'Best Gastro Cinema Short Film Award', endowed with 500 euros, which will be awarded by a jury of prominent professionals from the audiovisual sector during the gala at the Teatro Principal in Alicante. The works will be screened during the festival at the MARQ.
