Their latest achievement has been winning the Emerge Vibra Mahou contest at Sala Stereo in Alicante, which has earned them a spot on the lineup of the Low Festival in Benidorm. Songs like 'Cataclismo', 'Demasiados Veranos', and 'Basta Ya' chart a promising course for these young girls from Elche who took their name from the number of their fourth-year secondary school class to conquer all kinds of stages.
With relentless energy and enviable stage presence, La 126 started in 2022 with Lucía De Bunder, Laura Giner, and Elia Sempere, who decided to bring freshness to the new wave of rock with their EP titled 'Todo Venía de Antes'. Guitar riffs, danceable rhythms, and catchy choruses, combined with a mix of adrenaline and fun, have captured the attention of many followers, especially when heard live.
"Our first major song was 'Que pase el siguiente', which was born from a project in our first year of Audiovisual Communication. This track was a demo we submitted to a contest, and without any expectations, we won. It was our first big hit that we remember very fondly and pushed us to take that first step," recounts Lucía, the group's vocalist.
When it comes to composing, their strength is that "the three of us have different personalities, which allows for a flow of ideas and opinions, making the composition process complementary," mentions Elia, the drummer. She explains, "When one of us has an idea and a piece of a song, we share it and from there we look for a melody. We always try to ensure that all three of us feel the concept brought by each member."
Regarding musical tastes, they agree they love that 'punky' rock. "Whenever we get into a car, there's always a song by 'Aiko el grupo' or 'Carolina Durante' playing. However, when alone, each one listens to different styles," reveals Elia, showcasing the group's musical diversity.
Although they appreciate comparisons with other bands like Cariño, Ginebras, and Aiko el grupo, La 126 seeks to be completely independent in their style. Additionally, those comparisons often arise just because they are an all-girl band. "The process of finding your own sound or fitting into a style is much more complicated than it seems," admits Lucía. However, the band is determined to evolve towards "more mature lyrics and a clearer sound," to surprise their followers with what's next. They promise "a more rock sound, harder and more punk."
This year's Low Festival lineup includes well-known names like Los Planetas, Arde Bogotá, Suede, Sidonie or Amaral among other artists. When asked which group La 126 would like to share the stage with, they don't take long to decide: "Clearly it's Repion. They inspire us one hundred percent with their sound and live performances but there are also others like 'El buen hijo', 'Barry B' or 'Viscopaf' that we resonate with quite a bit."
The Low Festival will take place on July 26th, 27th and 28th in what will be its fourteenth edition. VIP and VIP Pool passes are already sold out but general tickets are still available for what promises to be an ode to music in the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca.
