The editorial team at TodoAlicante reviews the latest news and presents, on a silver platter, the five most notable stories that occurred this Wednesday, August 21 in the province of Alicante:
Residents of Pardo Bazán Street in San Vicente del Raspeig were in for a scare on Tuesday night. A police chase initiated by the National Police in Alicante to apprehend a group of thieves ended up in the urban area of the neighboring town, where officers fired warning shots to prevent the criminals from escaping. The Calpe City Council has announced the reopening of the closed section of Arenal-Bol beach. After water analysis by the Generalitat, the council learned that the water is in "excellent" condition, allowing this area of the Alicante coastline to be reopened for swimming. Link to the news.
Hércules' forwards will face stiff competition for playing time in the 24-25 season, which officially kicks off this Saturday (8:00 PM) at Rico Pérez against Ceuta. Technical Secretary Paco Peña and coach Rubén Torrecilla aimed to strengthen all lines after their promotion, and the attack was no exception. Diego Lorenzo left this summer after a blank year, and highly sought-after Dani Romera has joined as the third forward. Link to the news.
The ACAIP-UGT union has denounced this Wednesday the lack of prison healthcare staff in Alicante. The latest data collected by the organization from the Transparency Portal indicates that Fontcalent prison has two doctors to attend to an inmate population of over 900. According to job positions, there should be eight, reminds the union. Link to the news.
Shortly before celebrating its first anniversary in Alicante, Vearte gallery has received good news. Its director Laura León has been selected as curator for the fifth edition of Armenia's International Art Biennale (Biarco), with the challenge of making Alicante a capital of contemporary art.
