The Favourite Destination for Camper Travel This Easter

The Easter holiday emerges each year as an unmissable event for millions of travellers who seize this brief break at the start of the second quarter to enjoy new experiences, unwind, or connect with nature. For them, Iceland is the perfect cocktail. Reykjavik, its capital, has become the most booked destination by Spanish caravan enthusiasts this Easter, according to CamperDays.

"This destination accounts for 26% of all Easter bookings made through our platform in Spain," says Adriana Neves, the company's Marketing Manager. "Iceland is a trending destination and the top choice for Spaniards, surpassing Edinburgh, which was the most booked destination for Easter 2024," Adriana adds. "We are also witnessing an increase in bookings for colder destinations leading among caravan lovers," she concludes.

Moreover, 89% of bookings through the CamperDays website in Spain are for international destinations, while 11% choose a road trip within the national territory.

Regarding the average duration of the trip, the minimum booking for this destination is seven nights, indicating that Easter is becoming a longer holiday for Spaniards. The average booking price for a motorhome for a family or group in Iceland is around 1,000 euros per week.

Anticipation is another trend embraced by motorhome tourism. A year ago, CamperDays reported that, on average, Spaniards rented the caravan 11 weeks before the trip; now, "on average, Spaniards rent the caravan 17 weeks before Easter begins, while the forecast for other European travellers is 18 weeks."

Iceland thus consolidates itself as the favourite destination for Spanish caravan enthusiasts this Easter, reflecting a growing preference for immersive experiences in nature and well-planned trips. With rising demand and greater anticipation in bookings, motorhome tourism continues to evolve, becoming an increasingly attractive option for those seeking adventure and freedom on wheels.
