El president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has announced that the Generalitat will maintain in the 2025 budget, still pending the draft presentation in Les Corts, "the tax deductions for amounts invested in self-consumption or thermal installations through renewable sources," such as solar panels.
Mazón has advanced that the Generalitat will soon present a New Energy Master Plan, which will include initiatives such as promoting installations that include local energy communities "so that every municipality can have at least one in the coming years."
Additionally, this initiative will promote electric vehicles and charging stations. In this regard, the president recalled that the Consell "is studying the installation of charging points on high-capacity roads owned by the Generalitat."
This master plan will also boost biogas or biomethane; encourage storage to increase self-consumption; update the wind plan; develop green hydrogen, as well as the use and storage of CO2 for hard-to-abate industries.
The head of the Consell has highlighted the "exceptional conditions of our territory" with 300 days of sunshine a year, an ideal orography for wind exploitation, and leading-edge companies.
Mazón lamented that the Valencian Community has not been able to harness all this potential in recent years because there was an "administration that was stalling with endless bureaucracy." Conversely, the president cited the Administrative Simplification Decree as an example for "shortening deadlines, removing obstacles, and speeding up processing," while asserting that it "provides legal certainty to investment and guarantees territorial protection."
In eight years, 100 megawatts (MW) of renewable sources were connected to the grid in the Valencian Community, while, for example, Murcia connected 1,000 MW. Thus, he indicated that the consequences of this "renewable paralysis" have been stagnant sustainable electricity generation, an energy deficit exceeding 30%, and increased energy dependency.
In this regard, he assured that "we are making progress in resolving stalled files with results that are beginning to be seen" and highlighted that "in just over a year we have started processing 181 photovoltaic installation files and authorized 74 parks with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW)."
The top representative of the Valencian Executive emphasized the priority of "advancing in the coming years in energy sovereignty with a roadmap that bets on the balance between the generation of renewable sources and nuclear energy."
