'Bake Off', 'The Challenge', and 'Big Brother Duo' Among the New Year's TV Premieres

2025 kicks off on television with a series of premieres aimed at capturing the attention of an increasingly hard-to-please audience. Expect celebrity-driven shows like 'Bake Off', 'Celebrity Sewing Masters', and 'The Challenge', as well as the return of iconic formats such as 'Caiga Quien Caiga'.

    Celebrities Cooking and Sewing

One of the first premieres on the public channel for 2025 will be the third edition of 'Bake Off: Celebrities in the Oven'. Hosted once again by Paula Vázquez, this baking competition will feature popular figures like Isabel Gemio, Víctor Sandoval, Finito de Córdoba, Carmen Morales, Nagore Robles, and Yurena, among others. Additionally, the musical show 'That's My Jam', hosted by Arturo Valls, will move from Movistar Plus+ to La 1.

'Sewing Masters' will also return, this time with a celebrity version featuring Eduardo Casanova, Mónica Cruz, Edu Soto, and Pilar Rubio. Comedian José Mota will be back with 'José Mota: No News', joined by Patricia Conde, Florentino Fernández, and Santiago Segura. In the realm of competitions, two new shows: 'The Connection', hosted by Lara Álvarez, and 'The Floor', with Chenoa as presenter. 'Internal Affairs', a police thriller set in the late 70s, and 'ENA', based on the life of Queen Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, will be the dramas of the early months of the new year. The fourth edition of 'Benidorm Fest' and the final phase of the King's Cup in football will complete the programming.

    'Numbers and Letters'

The second channel of TVE will continue its focus on game shows, with 'Numbers and Letters' and 'Know and Win'. 'Late Xou' with Marc Giró will also continue, and 'The Fluzo Condenser' will return with a new host, Mayra Pixelskaya. On January 8, 'Justice for Diego', a documentary about the young Galician businessman who died in the Philippines during a fake drug operation, will premiere.

    Victoria Federica in 'The Challenge'

Last Saturday, Antena 3 launched its first premiere of 2025: the return of the iconic game show 'Catch a Million', with Manel Fuentes as the host this time. Friday's prime time will be occupied by 'The Challenge', featuring Victoria Federica and Genoveva Casanova as the big names of the fifth edition, with Roberto Leal returning as the host.

Starring Darío Grandinetti, 'Honor' will be the national fiction offering for Thursdays after 'El Hormiguero'. It tells the story of a judge who must face a moral dilemma to save his son after a fatal hit-and-run that ruins his life. Additionally, former Betis footballer Joaquín Sánchez will star in 'The Captain in America', a road trip adventure with his family.

    Risto and Luján

2025 arrives at Cuatro with a slew of premieres. Raúl Gómez takes the helm of 'Super Gómez. The Marathon Man', where he will travel through European and American cities via running. Journalist Antonio Pampliega returns to the channel with the report format 'Territory Pampliega'. Another return to Cuatro will be Jon Sistiaga with 'Project Sistiaga', and Luján Argüelles will host 'The Path of Truth', a new docu-reality where parents and children mend their differences while walking the Camino de Santiago.

Additionally, Isabel Jiménez will reveal unknown facets of celebrities in 'My Roots'. Meanwhile, Risto Mejide will take the reins of a new season of the interview show 'Travelling with Chester'. 'Martínez and Brothers', 'On Guard', 'Out of Coverage', 'The Gypsy King', and 'Street Reporters' will be other offerings for the prime time of Mediaset's second channel.

    The Return of 'CQC'

The most imminent event will be the premiere tonight (10:00 PM) of the eighth edition of 'The Island of Temptations', the show that tests the fidelity of couples, with Sandra Barneda returning as host. Telecinco already launched the new season of 'Big Brother Duo' on January 2, with Carlos Sobera and Ion Aramendi as the hosts of the gala and debate, respectively. Saturday night is reserved for 'There's Something I Want to Tell You', the surprise and reunion show that returned to the channel ten years later with Jorge Javier Vázquez.

Wednesday will also see the premiere of the cooking competition 'Next Level Chef'. Another return to the small screen will be 'Caiga Quien Caiga', with a trio of hosts consisting of Santi Millán, Lorena Castell, and Pablo González Batista. Later, 'Survivors', 'The Night of Records', and 'Dancing with the Stars', with Jesús Vázquez, will also return. In national fiction, two offerings: 'The Favourite 1922' and 'The Agency'. Telecinco will also venture into space with a special program directed by Jesús Calleja.

    Évole and Chicote Return

Journalist Jordi Évole will return with the sixth season of 'Lo de Évole' on Sunday nights. Chef Alberto Chicote will also return, this time with the new season of 'Restaurant Battle', where four establishments in the same city will compete to cook the same local dish and win a prize of 10,000 euros. 'La Sexta Column', 'Investigation Team', and 'La Sexta Key' will be other shows occupying the prime time.
