Caught at 128 km/h on a 50 km/h road in Xàbia

A driver was caught speeding at 128 km/h on an urban road where the speed limit is 50 km/h. The Local Police intercepted the vehicle, and charges have been filed against the offender, who was driving 78 km/h over the legal limit.

The incident occurred on Avenida del Pla during a speed control operation conducted by police officers as part of a nationwide campaign initiated by the Directorate General of Traffic. Since Monday, the DGT has launched an "intensive surveillance" campaign across Spain to ensure compliance with speed limits on roads and urban streets. The Local Police of Xàbia is participating in this initiative.

This measure aims to reduce traffic accidents, particularly fatalities and serious injuries caused by speeding. The campaign, which will run until Sunday, April 13, will be carried out using mobile radar units positioned on various roads throughout the area.
