Fernando Alonso did not hide his disappointment after retiring from the Australian Grand Prix due to an accident caused by a mistake in the racing line. The Spaniard explained the difficulties he faced: "It's one of those races you don't enjoy driving. The white lines are like ice, but it's the same for everyone. You try to take advantage of whatever happens in front," he commented.
Alonso, who paused to watch the chaotic end of the GP on the screens while speaking to the media, noted how difficult it was to overtake: "It's difficult because there's only one dry line, and you can't overtake even if you're faster than those ahead because you end up in the water." Recalling the moment of his accident, he said: "I found a mountain of gravel when I took the line, and the car went off. A shame."
Despite the retirement, the Aston Martin driver remained optimistic about the future: "China was a race where we had good pace, and there won't be the gravel at turn 6, which has been a ghost haunting us throughout the race." Looking ahead to the next event, Alonso hopes the team will improve its performance.
